Day Tours

Diving with sharks or supping a cheeky pinot… Our dedicated travel team at MannaBay can organise a unique day trip for you during your time in the Mother City.

We are known to organise some of the best adventures around! You’ll have to try them for yourself. Make the most of your time in the Mother City- whether you fancy a lazy afternoon in the Cape Winelands or an adventure-filled day diving with Great White Sharks on the garden Route.

Here are just a few of the trips on offer, but there are many more – all you have to do is ask.

Wander around the historic town of Stellenbosch, see where Nelson Mandela was released from prison, savour Franschhoek, the French corner of the Cape and enjoy numerous tastings and a light lunch.

You’ll discover the beauty and history of the Cape Winelands on this tour. We visit the Afrikaans Taal Monument in Paarl and stop at the Drakenstein Prison where Nelson Mandela was released in February 1990. In the Franschhoek Valley we visit the French Huguenots Memorial and call on many fine wine estates in the gastronomic capital of South Africa. We cross the Helshoogte Pass and descend into historic Stellenbosch for a light lunch and some more wine tasting. The great thing about visiting the Winelands is that wine can be drunk no matter the weather, in fact many say the best thing to warm a cold day is a glass of fine red wine. Cheers to that!

Hermanus is famous for being one of the best land-based places to whale-watch in the world. The best time to see these beautiful mammals is between July and November. The Southern Right Whales come as close as 50 metres to the shore and are known to breach, lobtail, spyhop and court in the waters. We leave Cape Town via the apple orchards of Elgin, and stop off at the Old Harbour Museum in Hermanus. Then it’s time to marvel at the whales frolicking in the bay and enjoy lunch in the seaside town before visiting a local vineyard for wine tasting. We then take you on a scenic drive to Kleinmond for a visit to the stunning Harold Porter Botanical Gardens. The spectacular “Riviera of the Cape” coastal drive via Gordon’s Bay takes us back to Cape Town where whales can be spotted in the Indian Ocean.

This tour runs from July to the end of October only. It is important to note that since this tour is working with wild animals, we cannot guarantee sightings.

After a two and a half hour scenic drive to Kleinbaai, you will enjoy a light breakfast and your dive master will give you a full briefing about the day’s procedures. You’ll then take a 20-minute boat trip out to sea and anchor off Dyer Island and Geyser Rock, which boasts a large Cape Fur Seal colony, the staple diet of the Great White Shark. After you slip into your wetsuit, the crew will lower you in the cage into the water. This is an incredible opportunity to get up close and personal with these amazing animals, from the safety of a cage.

Enjoy a picnic lunch on board, while waiting for the sharks or between dives, taking in the beautiful scenery. Even if you are not keen to dive, the shark viewing from the boat is still very exciting and not nearly as wet! It is important to note that this tour is working with wild animals so we cannot guarantee sightings. In the unlikely event of not seeing sharks, you will be provided with a voucher for an alternative day at your convenience.
