The Explorer room will cast you back to a period when our forefathers roamed the Cape in search of adventure and deeds of derring-do. Autumnal, safari colours are enriched by the crimson leather, wing back chair, sea faring war chests and a glass display case. A tribute to the Portuguese explorer Bartholemeu Dias who discovered the Cape of Good Hope in May 1488, thereby opening up a trade route with India. The crosses are symbolic of the Portuguese padrões which were large stone crosses inscribed with the coat of arms of Portugal. These were erected as part of a land claim by Portuguese explorers during what was known as the Portuguese Age of Discovery. Take a Caipirinha on your own private patio while watching the sun delve beneath the cityscape and into the Atlantic beyond. The Explorer room has a capacious dressing room, fire place, extra length king size bed (which can be turned into a twin) and a white marble en-suite bathroom with a double basin, bath and shower.
